Sustainability
Practical, factual,site by site.

01Current practice
Four commitments in practice.
- Environmental protection on site
- Environmental protection is written into the site organisation’s responsibilities and the HSE plan, under an environmental management system certified to ISO 14001:2015. Compliance with local environmental regulations is a stated duty of the HSE Officer.
- Water-sensitive infrastructure
- Riprap, line ditches, cut-off walls and floodway slabs manage stormwater and protect roads and communities after events such as Cyclone Mekunu.
- Efficient lighting and energy
- Street-lighting installation, with solar street lights, solar power stations and energy-efficiency systems available through the joint-venture partner.
- Durable construction
- Building to specification and testing to AASHTO and ASTM standards extends service life and reduces rework and waste.
02National context
Oman Vision 2040 and Dhofar’s road programme.
Oman Vision 2040 sets national targets for a safe, integrated road network and sustainable transport. Dhofar is receiving significant road investment, including seven maintenance and rehabilitation projects worth more than OMR 14 million across about 168 km, and new links such as the Harweeb–Al Mazyouna–Mitan road and 170 km of paved roads in Maqshin.
